I was e-mailing with Leroy Thompson, of DEAD CLIENTS DON’T PAY fame, and we we speaking of having him write for the Detective GATzette! As the exchange went on, he noted to me that at one time there as an effort to bring his book to TV. From out exchange (per his permission)

Bu the way, I don’t if you know that that book (DEAD CLIENTS DON’T PAY) was optioned for a tv series.  Tristar had me to Hollywood to pitch the idea and they contracted for a script for the first episode.  It would been on the same channel as THE EQUALIZER; hence they decided not to do the series.  I fear it would  have turned out silly even though I would have been the technical advisor.  For example, one of the writers called me one night and told me they needed some sort of creative alarm system for the client who hired the BG character.   I was half a sleep and as a throwaway line I said, “Geese worked well in Vietnam!”  A couple of days later they sent me a section about the hero having a pet goose that traveled the world with him!

For you history buffs, alarm geese worked well in ancient Rome as well.
