The Triple Deuce Dance
A Test for Revolvers
Objective: The shooter must demonstrate the ability to move and shoot at combat speed while placing decisive hits on multiple targets.
Target: Three IPSC targets (T1, T2, T3) with the A-zones cut away (negative targets) to facilitate scoring. Targets will be placed 5 yards from the shooter and spaced 12 feet apart. Any target with a realistic size high value area may be used.
Ammunition Requirement: 12 rounds. For five shot revolvers, 10 rounds.
Begin Exercise: The shooter will load with 6 rounds and have an additional 6 rounds on the belt. The handgun will be contained in a holster concealed from view. The shooter will take a position directly in front of the left side target (T1). On the signal, the shooter will draw & fire 2 rounds, move laterally in front of the center target (T2) and fire 2 rounds. Move laterally to the right target (T3) and fire 2 more rounds. Use available cover and RELOAD. Reverse direction and fire 2 rounds to T3, 2 rounds to T2 and 2 rounds to T1. End of exercise. The shot sequence for 5 shot guns is 2,2,1 and repeat.
Scoring: The goal is to put all 12 rounds through the A zone cut. One second will be added to your time for each hit on the target but outside the A-zone. World Class performance= 20 seconds or less total elapsed time. Very Good performance= 25 seconds or less, Satisfactory performance= 30 seconds or less.
