Five &  Dime- 5 shots, 5 yards in 10 seconds

Objective: The shooter must demonstrate the ability to make surgical hits, use cover and efficiently reload the combat revolver.

Scenario: You have fired multiple rounds without effect and only 3 remain in your revolver. The location of your assailant is no longer known and there may be a second subject in close proximity.

Ammunition Needed:  Initial load-out is 3 rounds.  You will also need a speedloader, strip or 2X2X2 pouch for a reload.

Range Prop: High Cover (stacked barrels, 9 Hole etc.)

Targets: Two cardboard or paper silhouettes with a high value scoring area (T1 & T2) such as IPSC or IDPA. The targets will be set 5 yards away with a spread of 3 yards between them.

Begin Exercise: Start in Shoot Box A revolver, load with 3 rounds and index the cylinder. Gun will be in low ready, muzzle depressed. Face uprange, back to the target. On the signal, pivot 180 degrees, fire 2 body shots and 1 head shot to T1. Immediately move to cover, RELOAD and fire 2 body shots to T2.

Scoring: If you can run this in 10 seconds or less with quality hits, go to the head of the class. Twelve seconds is still a pretty good performance. Penalties, 1 second added to total time for each hit outside the high value area. Missed head shot=DQ

Variations: a) run it in poor light b) place “innocent bystander” in close proximity

Layout:                    T1——-3yards——–T2@ 5yards

Shoot Box A—–High Cover

Safety Reminder- When performing the pivot , make sure the gun comes up only when facing downrange!
