The .327 federal magnum is a very interesting cartridge, Taurus ni longer makes them, but charter arms, Ruger and s&w still do, s&w0nly on performance center. My Taurus, I’ve found to be minute of bad guy at 10 yards ( after working the trigger a bit). Initially I shot at a back yard range, along with a 4” .38 using standard velocity 158 grain loads. The .327 I used 100gr. Jsps. First thing I noted was the .327 sent splinters flying from the logs holding the dirt mound in. The .38s merely buried themselves in. It really scientific, but to me showed more oomph. Other advantages to the .327 is it’ll also shoot .32 h&r, .32 s&w short or long, even .32 acp ( semi rimmed, enough to catch on the extractor star). Disadvantages, .327 can be a little tough to locate, possibly pricey but i got a really good deal with the gat) . The only other cons are finding one. The sp101 would probably be the best.
Hks speed loaders, model 32 work fine. If you can find a used Taurus that’d be good if reasonably priced. I’ve had good luck with mine. The only other real drawback is its steel framed, so if you’re wanting an airweight you might want to look elsewhere. Recoil, with th steel frame is quite manageable, an airweight might be a bit stouter. Overall, I love the gat and the cartridge. If enough people get into them it’d lower ammo prices. If I could talk Charter into upgrading the professional to a7 shot .327, that’d be ideal. Oh well , I can dream. As the old commercial said, try it, you’ll like it.
