Objective: This drill was designed to reinforce the combat shooting fundamentals of grip, sighting and trigger management with the revolver.

Target: B8 Center or similar

Distance: 3, 5 or 7 yards depending on skill level and/or barrel length

Ammunition Requirement: At least 20 rounds. Three or four empty cases will also be needed.

Begin Exercise: The shooter will randomly load 2 live rounds into the cylinder of the revolver (no side by side for the initial load). Empty cases will be loaded in the remaining charge holes. Once loaded, close the cylinder and come to a low ready position. On the shoot stimulus, bring the gun to eye level, get a sight picture and perform two quality double action trigger presses. The shoot stimulus may be self initiated or given by a training partner. Two trigger presses only! Did the gun discharge? If so, hopefully your hit is in the X-ring. If the gun did not discharge, repeat. Once you have fired one round, open the cylinder and replace the spent round with a live one. Close your eyes, spin and close the cylinder. Back to low ready and repeat until all 20 rounds are expended.

Scoring: This drill is for self-assessment purposes. No cheating! You should not be able to predict a bang or a click. If all of your shots have punched out the X ring, move back next time you try it. Tabulating total point value after expending all 20 rounds (200 points max) will give insight as to your command of the fundamentals.
