9 Shots in 9 Seconds from 9 feet
Objective: The shooter must demonstrate the ability to make surgical hits after rapid movement.
Distance: 3 yards, 5 yards
Ammunition Requirement: 27 total (9 rounds for each phase)
Target: small target such as a 3X5 inch index card or a 4 inch circle is ideal. A B8 Center may also be used but only hits in the black count.
Range Props: 2 cones, one directly in front of the shooter, the second 9 feet to the right
Begin Exercise:
Phase One @ 3 yards- Shooter in front of left cone. Come to the ready position. On the signal, fire 3 shots, MOVE to right cone, fire 3 shots, MOVE to left cone, fire 3 shots.
Phase Two @ 3 yards- As above, but the shooter will draw from the holster.
Phase Three @ 5 yards- Repeat Phase Two
Scoring: This is a test. If you can make all 9 hits on Phase Three, go to the head of the class!
Variation: Use two pieces of high cover at 5 yards instead of barrels. As above, fire 3 shots. MOVE to second point of cover and fire 3 shots. RELOAD than MOVE back to first point of cover and fire 3 Shots.
