Objective: This drill is designed to assess practical marksmanship and basic operational skills with the combat shotgun.

Ammunition Required: 10 rounds of buckshot

Target: Negative IPSC with the A-zone cut away

Begin Exercise:

Phase One @ 15 yards- Combat load one round and come to a muzzle depressed position. On the signal fire 1 round. 0.6 second= superior, 1 second=intermediate, 2 seconds= acceptable

Phase Two @10 yards- Combat load 2 rounds and come to a muzzle depressed position. On the signal fire a controlled pair. 1 second=superior, 2 seconds=intermediate, 3 seconds=acceptable

Phase Three@ 7yards- Cruiser load with 3 rounds and come to a high ready position. On the signal,  chamber a round and make 3 hits. RELOAD with 1 round and make an additional hit. 7 seconds= superior, 11 seconds=intermediate, 16 seconds=acceptable

Phase Four@3 yards- Combat load 3 rounds and come to a high tuck CQB position. On the signal, fire 2 rounds from high tuck, step back and bring the gun to the shoulder and fire 1 head shot. 1.75 seconds=superior,3seconds=intermediate, 4 seconds=acceptable

Scoring: All hits should impact inside the A/C zones of the target. If you can attain a superior rating in 3 of the 4 categories, consider yourself a “Master Blaster”. Not obtaining an acceptable rating in 2 or more categories would indicate more work is needed.
