Goal
Your self-defense goal should be to maximize your practical safety. What is the criteria for reaching practical safety? I think Jeff Cooper codified it succinctly when years ago he was asked how a [student of self-defense] would know he was safe? Paraphrasing, Cooper responded that “[the handgunner] will have achieved a practical level of safety when the defender’s skills and training put his attacker at far greater risk from the victim than the victim would be from the attacker.”
