In the movie The Dogs of War I heard about 9 mm quad ammo to be purchased for use in the mercenaries’ Uzis. I learned that each round had 4 projectiles. In 1995 I bought a Ruger P-89. A more serious shooter heard the good news & kindly gave me some defensive ammo: 18 rounds of 9 mm duplex. I’m not in law enforcement, & the Westminster Police Dept. keeps my neighborhood safe. The LAPD did the same for me, even during my work in the Alternative Sentencing Unit for a suspect – not a rioter – at the Criminal Courts Bldg. during the Rodney King verdict riot. A couple days later my express bus was running, & National Guardsmen were guarding the Criminal Courts Bldg. & the Humvee they’d parked at the curb. Thank God, I never had to fire one of these rounds.
30 + years after getting them, I’ve got all 18 rounds. The 1st projectile is FMJ & the 2nd one is lead. I imagine the first one to strike a human would decelerate immediately & the 2nd one would initiate an ugly rear end collision. I have no intention of leading the barrel of either of the handguns that succeeded the P-89. I’m not that curious. I’ve never read anything about this ammo. Do serious shooters have any input, positive or negative, about 9 mm duplex?
